Updated July 13, 2026. MDF prices in Turkey cannot be represented reliably by one public “market price.” Quotations vary by thickness, density, emission class, moisture resistance, surface finish, order size, incoterm, currency and destination. TimberInsider found no official real-time Turkish MDF price index supporting the precise mill-level figures previously shown on this page, so those unsupported quotations have been removed.
How to obtain a comparable Turkish MDF price
A usable request for quotation should define the complete product and commercial basis. At minimum, buyers should specify:
- raw, sanded, painted or melamine-faced MDF;
- sheet dimensions and nominal thickness;
- density or the required technical data sheet;
- standard, moisture-resistant, fire-retardant or other grade;
- formaldehyde-emission requirement and test documentation;
- colour or décor reference for surfaced panels;
- order volume, packaging and pallet requirements;
- currency, quotation validity and payment terms;
- EXW, FCA, FOB, CIF, DAP or another Incoterm;
- destination, delivery window and required origin documents.
Without these fields, two prices per cubic metre may describe materially different products and cost responsibilities.
Turkey MDF quote-comparison template
| Field | Supplier A | Supplier B | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product and thickness | Record exact specification | Record exact specification | Controls material and processing |
| Sheet size | mm × mm | mm × mm | Changes sheets per m³ and yield |
| Emission documentation | Test/certificate reference | Test/certificate reference | Required for target market |
| Quoted unit | €/sheet or €/m³ | €/sheet or €/m³ | Must be normalised |
| Incoterm and location | Example: FCA mill | Example: CIF port | Defines included logistics |
| Validity | Date | Date | Protects against stale comparisons |
| Lead time | Days/weeks | Days/weeks | Affects inventory cost |
Convert sheet prices into cubic-metre prices
To compare quotations, calculate the volume of one sheet:
Sheet volume (m³) = length (m) × width (m) × thickness (m).
Then divide the sheet price by its volume. For example, a 2.80 × 2.10 metre sheet at 18 mm has a volume of 0.10584 m³. A quoted sheet price should be divided by 0.10584 to obtain the equivalent price per cubic metre before freight, duties, unloading, finance and waste.
This calculation does not make unlike panels equivalent. Density, surface, certification and usable cutting yield must still match. TimberInsider’s panel-price hub provides the wider comparison framework.
What official data can and cannot show
Türkiye’s statistical agency, TurkStat, reported that the domestic producer price index rose 28.09% year over year in June 2026 and 1.80% month over month. Manufacturing producer prices increased 29.65% year over year. These figures provide inflation context for domestic producers, but they are not an MDF price index and cannot justify an identical percentage change in panel quotations.
Similarly, construction-cost and industrial-production indexes help describe demand and cost conditions without providing transaction prices for 16 mm or 18 mm MDF. A buyer still needs dated supplier quotations for the exact specification.
Turkey’s production base
Turkey has a significant wood-based-panel manufacturing base serving furniture, interiors and construction. Kastamonu Entegre identifies itself as Turkey’s largest wood-based-panel producer and lists MDF facilities in Gebze, Kastamonu, Balıkesir and Adana, alongside a particleboard site in Samsun.
The company reports more than 7 million m³ of annual production capacity across its international MDF and particleboard network, five production sites in Turkey and facilities in other countries. That figure is a combined global corporate capacity; it must not be presented as Turkey-only MDF capacity.
Manufacturer scale can support product range and logistics, but it does not establish a national market price. Buyers should request offers from multiple qualified suppliers and distributors. See TimberInsider’s Turkish MDF manufacturers guide for a supplier-research starting point.
Main drivers of MDF quotations in Turkey
- Wood fibre: species mix, residues, chips, transport distance and competing uses affect input cost.
- Resins and additives: adhesive chemistry and performance requirements change panel cost.
- Energy: fibre preparation, drying, pressing, sanding and finishing require heat and electricity.
- Currency: domestic costs, imported inputs and export quotations may use different currencies.
- Utilisation: maintenance, order books and production scheduling influence availability.
- Finishing: décor paper, coating, paint, matching and surface quality add value beyond raw MDF.
- Logistics: panels are heavy and freight can materially change the delivered comparison.
These drivers explain why a national inflation reading or exchange-rate movement does not translate one-for-one into MDF prices.
Quality and formaldehyde documentation
Buyers should request the product data sheet, declaration of performance where applicable, emission test documentation, production standard and certificate scope. A label such as “E1” should not be accepted without the referenced standard, test method, issuing body and covered manufacturing site.
Kastamonu Entegre states that its laboratories test formaldehyde emissions, physical performance, moisture-resistant and fire-retardant products, and that it manufactures panels to Turkish and European standards with additional certifications available for certain markets.
For EU sales, Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/1464 establishes a formaldehyde concentration limit of 0.062 mg/m³ for furniture and wood-based articles placed on the market after August 6, 2026, subject to its test conditions and exemptions. Buyers should confirm compliance for the finished article and intended use, not assume that a marketing grade alone is sufficient.
EUDR and traceability for EU-bound MDF
The EU Deforestation Regulation covers wood and specified wood products. The European Commission states that the main application date is December 30, 2026 for large and medium operators, with June 30, 2027 applying to certain micro and small operators.
Importers should determine whether the exact HS/CN product is within scope and identify their role in the supply chain. Required information may include species, origin, geolocation and due-diligence references. Certification can support supplier controls but does not automatically replace legal due diligence.
Delivered-cost calculation
A robust comparison should add every cost between the quoted location and the buyer’s warehouse:
Delivered cost = panel price + inland origin freight + export handling + ocean/road freight + insurance + import duty + customs/port fees + inland destination freight + finance + expected damage or yield loss.
Payment terms also matter. A nominally cheaper quotation requiring earlier payment can create a higher financing cost. Longer lead times increase safety-stock requirements and the risk of décor or specification changes.
Buyer checklist before placing an order
- Obtain at least three quotations dated within the same week.
- Normalise them to the same unit, currency, Incoterm and destination.
- Confirm sheet dimensions, tolerances, density and usable yield.
- Verify certificate validity and manufacturing-site coverage.
- Request representative samples before approving a new source.
- Define inspection, claims and replacement procedures in writing.
- Check pallet protection, moisture exposure and container loading.
- Separate verified facts from forecasts and sales claims.
For specification decisions, consult the MDF product hub, the formaldehyde standards guide and TimberInsider’s sources and methodology policy.
Bottom line
There is no defensible single “Turkey MDF price” without a product definition, quotation date and delivery basis. Turkey is a major panel-manufacturing and exporting country, but public macroeconomic and company-capacity data do not replace transaction evidence. Buyers should compare like-for-like supplier quotations, calculate the complete delivered cost and verify regulatory documentation before purchasing.
Sources and methodology
Inflation context comes from TurkStat’s June 2026 producer-price release. Facility and capacity statements were checked against Kastamonu Entegre’s corporate information, facility directory and quality documentation. Formaldehyde requirements use Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/1464. EUDR timing follows the European Commission implementation page. TimberInsider does not publish an MDF price unless its specification, period, geography and commercial basis can be verified.
